RPC Bramlage-Wiko’s skills in in-mould labeling (IML) has led leading cheese products manufacturer Hochland to move its best-selling Streichfein brand into an injection moulded container and lid offering advanced all-over decoration.

Hochland is a familiar name in Europe, with a reputation for high-quality products. Its Streichfein brand of cheese spreads is a popular range offering four different flavours: Gouda, light Gouda, Emmenthal and Maasdam. The company was keen to strengthen the on-shelf presence of the brand, with a new tub design and clear differentiation between flavours achieved with colour-coded containers and labels.

Previously, Hochland had used a thermoformed container decorated with post-mould labels, but was attracted by the outstanding reproduction and integral all-over designs that can be achieved using IML. Recognising RPC Bramlage-Wiko’s expertise in this area, Hochland agreed to switch to an injection moulded design to enable the use of the IML technology.

RPC Bramlage-Wiko has created a new mould to manufacture the custom-designed tub at its production facility in Celle. Its distinctive appearance features a small base curving into a wide rim for ease of consumer access, which also enables a large lid with a prominent labeling area to enhance product branding.

The ability of IML technology to cover the entire surface of the container and lid has enabled Hochland to create a dazzling combination of lifestyle graphics – showing the spread in use as part of a healthy meal – and vivid colours to differentiate the four flavours: respectively, green, blue, red and orange.

“RPC Bramlage-Wiko has delivered a solution that enhances the high-quality nature of the Streichfein brand,” comments a spokesperson from Hochland. “The stylish design of the tub provides the ideal foundation to show off the dazzling IML designs for an outstanding overall impact.”
